Moshi, Tanzania
On 02 March 2008, a standard 42.2 km marathon and a 21.1 km half marathon will be run from the town of Moshi, Tanzania. This race has been set up to promote the sport in Tanzania, and has the official backing of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association, the IAAF, and is registered with AIMS.
The route starts and ends in Moshi, Tanzania, and runs north towards the mountain, through rural farmland on a tarmac road, before returning on another rural dirt road to end back in Moshi. The total altitude gain is not great, and it is a standard 42.2 km marathon and a 21.1 km half marathon. The route passes through many small holder farms, villages, banana and coffee plantations and patches of forest, providing great excitement to the residents and many vocal supporters. The race is completely backed by many local organisations and official timekeeping is arranged, as is an official prize giving and function attended by local dignitaries.
There are a choice of three different races open to runners and guests; the Celtel 5km fun run route, the 21.1km Kilimanjaro half marathon route or the full 42.2km Kilimanjaro marathon route.

| 4 | Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) | Zanzibar | The international film festival featuring a selection of films from the Dhow Region and its diasporic communities throughout the world will contribute to and provide challenging insights on the festival\'s theme.
This Years festival from: 11th July 2008 - 20th July 2007
A special selection on films which look at the issue of slavery will be featured. Echoing the intentions of the recently launched UNESCO Slave Route Project, this focus within the screening programme aims to promote \"..historical truth, peace, development, Human Rights, memory and intercultural dialogue.\"
The screening programme will also showcase the work of individual directors who in some way exemplify aspects of their national film industry.
Mission: To promote internationally and to develop film and other relevant cultural industries as tools for social and economic growth in the region, as exemplified in Zanzibar.
Vision: ZIFF aims to make Zanzibar the focal point for promoting Dhow culture through films and other media.
